Day 2 Sing with me! "Almost Heaven West Virginia..."

July 27th
Crossed 3 states today; rest of Kentucky, West Virginia, and landed in Suffolk, VA.
11 plus hours of driving, but all worth it once I arrived and got to spend time with old friends.
Some highlights of the day; a long, (and much needed after all those car hours) walk and talk on a beautiful evening, and topped off with homemade peach cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream ... Yum! Yum! Nothing beats the flavor of an orchard peach!
I saw two mama deer with their babies along the roadside meadow areas in Kentucky just a few miles apart. One with young twins, the other with just one young spotted fawn. Hope those mamas are teaching them to stay off that road! Not likely.
Later there was a little black bear cub in West Virginia who had been hit and killed. Poor little cutie.

Some thoughts that fell out of my brain today...
*City names should only be used once. Sorry pioneer people! Just because you had super fond memories of that place didn't mean you needed to name a new place the same thing in the next state over, and then in another state, and then in another one! Sheesh! At least add some adjectives to help us get them in MapQuest a little easier. Am I headed to Lexington, IN, Lexington, KY, or Lexington, VA?! How about "Lexington", "New Lexington", and "Newest Lexington" ? Or, better yet, just call the new city a new name altogether! Lol
*Those Blue Ridge mountains with the morning fog rising out of the gorges...just gorgeous! Pun intended. ;)
*If I stopped at every place I wanted to see, it would take me a week to drive 1100 miles! The horse museum in Kentucky, the thorobred retirement farm that is near it, the Natural Bridge, Shennendoah River road, Jamestown, etc. etc  Plus, about a zillion lakes I had to just keep zipping past. Things to see next time, right?
*I survived the Chesepeake Bay tunnel, yay me! I was dreading going through that  thing nearly all day. Then the hovering right on top of the bay waters, LONG, bridge when you come out of the tunnel. Yeesh!
Another day. Another adventure. That is what travel is all about, right?!
